How to identify
Both the male and female share similar charactaristics. It is possible to confuse the blue tit with the great tit, howeever the blue tit has a small rounded head and short stocky neck. It also has a black eye stripe and small blue skullcap. It underneath is a bright yellow with a black and grey strip stripe on the centre of the belly.
Where they can be seen
One of the most well known birds seen any where in the garden from nesting garden hedges to foraging on the garden lawn. Additionally it can be found throughout British woodlands and countryside
Feeding Habits
Blue Tits naturally feed on insects, grubs, caterpillars, seeds and fruit. They will also feed from any bird feeder, particularly using this source of food in winter when natural food sources are more scarce
Blue tits will eat most seeds that can be used inside our range of bird feeders. Additionally they will take from peanut feeders.
Nesting
The blue tit will use artifical nesting boxes
